The National Collegiate Hockey Conference has extended membership invitations to St. Cloud State and Western Michigan, the new Colorado Springs-based league announced today.

St. Cloud State is currently a member of the Denver-based Western Collegiate Hockey Association and Western Michigan is with the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. The NCHC, founded in July by the University of Denver, Colorado College, North Dakota, Miami (Ohio), Nebraska-Omaha and defending NCAA champion Minnesota-Duluth, will begin play for the 2013-14.

The NCHC previously extended an invitation to CCHA-member Notre Dame, which is also considering Hockey East.
