Cities across the country have been challenging the style supremacy of such fashion capitals as New York and Los Angeles by staging their own fashion weeks, and now it’s our turn. From Tuesday to Oct. 2, Colorado Fashion Week takes over the lobby of the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, 1245 Champa St. Executive producer for the event is Justice Kwesi Kwarteng, whose JTA Group produces events and has been trying to promote a stronger fashion industry in Colorado. Fashion shows from both established and emerging designers will be held nightly as will VIP after parties, workshops in topics related to the business of fashion, a buyers market and pop-up store. The event kicks off Tuesday with a hair and beauty runway show. The rest of the week, runway shows will be staged by D’Lola Couture by Deedee Vicory, Fashion House of Rae Marie, Johanna Christine by Johanna Alwin, Barrera by Juan Andrews Jimenez, Gino Velardi and Common Era Boutiques. The fashion market, buyers sessions and business development workshops will be from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 2 at RedLine Gallery, 2350 Arapahoe St. Ticket prices range from $15 for individual sessions for students to $340 for an all-event patron pass at .
