BEULAH, Colo.—Aging volunteer firefighters and rising costs may force the Beulah fire department to make changes.

The median age of the volunteers is 50 and it’s funded by donors.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain ( ), a committee on Wednesday said the community could leave things as they are, set up a subscription or fee program or establish a fire district to raise money.

The department protects more than 900 households and covers more than 130 square miles.
