PHILADELPHIA — Just four days after suffering a concussion, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was throwing passes, making calls and running the huddle like he had never left it. That’s the picture Vick’s teammates painted Thursday after he participated fully in their afternoon practice.

“Mike Vick looked good,” running back LeSean McCoy said. “He looked the same. He looked very accurate.”

Said receiver Jason Avant: “It feels great for all of us to have him back in there. I mean, he’s Michael Vick.”

Vick has not talked to the media since suffering a concussion in the third quarter of the Eagles’ 35-31 loss to the Falcons on Sunday, but the team confirmed he had been cleared to return to play by the NFL-appointed independent neurologist.

Vick reportedly is having his helmet refitted before Sunday’s game against the Giants, and will be using Kevlar to disburse the effects of an additional blow to the head. Though Kevlar has been used in hockey helmets and the military, this would mark the first time that it has been used in football.

Footnotes.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo (broken rib, lung) returned to practice but didn’t do anything that required bending or moving his arms. Coach Jason Garrett said Romo doesn’t necessarily have to practice to be cleared for Monday night’s game against the Redskins.

• Giants two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Osi Umenyiora said his arthroscopically repaired right knee is feeling better and he expects to play again soon.

• Cardinals running back Beanie Wells was limited in practice with a hamstring injury but said the problem was not serious. The Associated Press
