Colorado State Patrol trooper injured after an SUV slams into a marked patrol car

A Colorado State Patrol trooper was taken to the hospital Thursday night, after a patrol car was smashed into by a driver allegedly under the influence of drugs.

Just after midnight, the trooper was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Baseline Road at Cherryvale Road in a marked patrol car, according to the State Patrol.

A Chevrolet Suburban traveling at a high rate of speed, collided with the back of the patrol car.

The trooper, whose name has not been released, was taken to Boulder Community Hospital. He was treated for minor injuries and released early this morning.

The driver of the Suburban, whose name has not been released, was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The driver was booked into the Boulder County Jail after being released, and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
