A man was fatally shot on a Colorado Springs street last night and the suspect is at large, but has now been identified.

The shooting happened at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday in the 2900 block of Tremont Street, according to Colorado Springs Police.

Police were called on reports of shots fired and when they arrived paramedics were “attempting to revive” a man who had been shot.

The victim, who was not identified, died at the scene, on Tremont just south of Fillmore Avenue.

The shooter fled on foot.

He was identified early this evening as 41-year-old Roy Saldivar, of Colorado Springs.

Saldivar is a Hispanic male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with multiple tattoos. Saldivar is considered armed and dangerous.

Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Salvidar for first degree murder.

Police ask the public not to approach Salvidar if spotted, but to instead call police at 719-444-7000.
