COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A 47-year-old homeless man attacked while he slept in a Colorado Springs park earlier this month has died, and an autopsy ruled he died of blunt force trauma.
The (Colorado Springs) Gazette reports ( ) that no suspects have been identified in the homicide of John Carlos Martinez. Authorities say Martinez was sleeping on playground equipment in a park on the night of Sept. 13 when he was attacked about 11 p.m.
Another person reported the attack to police the next morning. Martinez was hospitalized but died of his injuries last Thursday.
Police say Martinez reportedly was attacked by two other men, but no other information about the assailants was available.
