PIERRE, S.D.—About 150 cadets from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., are coming to South Dakota to help with flood cleanup.

KCCR radio reports that the cadets will travel by bus to Pierre-Fort Pierre. Pierre Parks Director Tom Farnsworth says they will help with sandbag removal and other cleanup efforts in both private and public areas on Friday and Saturday.

South Dakota’s capital city and neighboring Fort Pierre were threatened by Missouri River flooding this summer. Emergency levees helped limit damage, and the floodwaters have since receded.
