Weld County, Greeley and Windsor authorities will submit a grant application Monday in hopes of winning $47 million from the federal government to improve railway infrastructure.
The Greeley City Council on Tuesday approved and Weld County commissioners will likely approve today the application for the Tiger grant, awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, to improve the Great Western Shortline and Crossroads Boulevard, primarily.
The grant would open up access between the small shortline railroad in Greeley and Windsor to the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern railroads, major railways that travel throughout the Midwest and West.
