BOULDER, Colo.—The University of Colorado says Monisha Merchant has resigned from the Board of Regents to become senior adviser for business affairs for Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado.
Merchant began her six-year term in January 2009 after winning election in November 2008. The Lakewood Democrat resigned effective Sept. 25.
Under state law, the governor will appoint a successor to serve until the next general election in November 2012, when voters will decide who will finish the final two years of the term.
