The University of Colorado women’s soccer team thought it had its first win in the Pac-12 Conference, but an apparent game-winning goal with two minutes left in the second overtime was called back because of a foul, and the Buffs settled for a 2-2 tie with Arizona (0-8-2, 0-1-1 Pac-12) on Friday at Prentup Field in Boulder.
Anne Stuller scored both goals for the Buffs (3-5-2, 0-1-1), who had another solid effort, according to coach Bill Hempen. But he was not happy with the defense.
“From our standpoint, we have to accept our opponents are going to get opportunities,” Hempen said, “and we have to be better repelling them.”
• Kristen Hamilton scored in the 109th minute to give the University of Denver (9-2-0, 3-0-0 Sun Belt) a 2-1 overtime victory over host Louisiana-Lafayette (4-7-1, 0-3-0).
Hamilton got a pass from Nicholette DiGiacomo on a give-and-go, avoided the diving goalkeeper and tapped the ball into the net.
• Colorado College (5-4-2) has a three-game winning streak to start Conference USA play — and sits atop the league standings at 3-0-0 — after a 3-0 victory over host Southern Mississippi.
Midfielder Kaeli Vandersluis got the Tigers on the board only 3:59 into the game, converting a cross from midfielder Madison Whitehead. CC’s final two goals came from freshmen — Jessie Ayers in the 54th minute, and Jaclyn Silsby, who scored on a header.
