Debbie Mestas is sad to say goodbye today to the many loyal customers and friends she has met while working at the KFC restaurant on North Lincoln Avenue.
Over the past four years she has served the same fried chicken meals each week to people whose names she knows by heart. But she won’t see most of them after 10 o’clock tonight, when the restaurant closes its doors for good.
“I’m going to be crying tomorrow,” she said Thursday afternoon, standing in the parking lot after work.
General manager Todd Burgess said the lease was up on the property at 1356 N. Lincoln Ave., where the restaurant has stood since the early ’70s, and the company decided not to renew.
