Authorities closed the Long Lake Trail at Brainard Lake on Saturday while they search for a missing 72-year-old man who disappeared Friday.
Ernest “Jon” Macaulay of Boulder failed to meet with family early Friday, according to Sgt. Troy Wolf.
Boulder County sheriff’s deputies found his vehicle parked at the Long Lake trailhead in the Brainard Lake recreational area west of Boulder.
More than 50 rescuers from numerous alpine, municipal and county rescue teams searched unsuccessfully for Macaulay on Saturday. Search dogs also were being used to find the man, Wolf said.
Authorities plan to resume the search early today.
