FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Fort Collins officials say they hope a nearly $1 million makeover of a downtown alley will help promote further development in the area.

The project funded by the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority through property taxes paid by members features colored pavers and decorative light poles for hanging baskets and flowers.

DDA Executive Director Matt Robenalt says the goal is to revamp alleys to create street frontages to energize and revitalize areas.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports Sunday ( ) that downtown development officials have completed similar projects in other parts of the city.
