Sometime in early September, two mountain lions tussled in Stratton Open Space.
One walked away. The other didn’t.
It died, sprawled across a trail.
A hiker stumbled upon the dead cougar Sept. 9 while strolling through the southwest Colorado Springs park, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokesman Michael Seraphin.
Exactly what led to the confrontation remains a mystery, Seraphin said.
