COMMERCE CITY — Deputies said a candidate for City Council in Commerce City was pulled over for allegedly driving under the influence Saturday.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said 40-year-old Joe Sandoval was pulled over at 11:42 p.m. near 84th Avenue and Conifer Road.
Sandoval is running for an at-large council seat in the Nov. 1 election, according to the elections website.
Sandoval was issued a summons and taken to a detox facility, which is standard procedure, according to deputies. It was unknown whether he had been released.
According to the Commerce City elections website, Sandoval is a criminal investigator with the state Department of Revenue in the Gaming and Medical Marijuana Enforcement Divisions. He is a former Commerce City police sergeant, school resource officer and public-information officer.
