BOULDER, Colo.—University of Colorado police have arrested a freshman accused of making derogatory remarks about Asian food, then breaking the nose of a half-Asian student who objected.

The Daily Camera reports ( ) 19-year-old Thomas Frank Ross is free on bond after being arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and bias-motivated crime.

He is accused of attacking 18-year-old fellow student Christopher Tetreault late Friday in another student’s room.

Ross allegedly told police he only hit Tetreault after Tetreault threw a drink on him. Other students in the room disagreed. According to a police report, Ross said Tetreault had made derogatory remarks to him about being Jewish and that he didn’t even know Tetreault was part Asian.

Ross also faces a student disciplinary procedure at CU.
