HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials have finished draining Dumont Lake near the east summit of Rabbit Ears Pass.

The 220 acre-feet of water in the lake was drained to make it easier to repair recently discovered damage to the lake’s dam.

Wildlife managers had planned to lift catch-and-release restrictions through Oct. 31 at the lake so that anglers could salvage as many trout as possible, but the lake was drained much sooner than expected.

Wildlife officials say they plan to restock the lake with trout once repairs are complete.
