Less than a week after former CIA contractor Raymond Davis’ arrest in a Highlands Ranch parking lot dispute, Pakistan’s embassy has asked the Justice Department for an update on its promised investigation into his previous brush with the law, when he killed two Pakistanis in January.

In a diplomatic note Monday to the Justice and State departments, Ambassador Husain Haqqani inquired about the status of the investigation. He said no reply had been received.

Davis was charged with murder after he fatally shot two motorcyclists who he said tried to rob him in Lahore. He was released in March, after $2.3 million was paid to the victims’ families.

In a May 26 letter to Pakistani Interior Minister Rehman Malik, the Justice Department said it was “currently investigating” the shooting.

That, Pakistan says, is the last it heard. And it was the last anyone heard of Davis until the Colorado altercation. He was formally charged Tuesday in Castle Rock with felony second-degree assault and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
