A Boulder man was arrested early Thursday morning after police say he ran onto U.S. 36 while on LSD and before being eventually pepper-sprayed by a security guard driving by the scene.

According to police records, Joseph Arthur Conway, 21, ran from the backyard of his house on Moorhead Avenue onto U.S. 36. A car was forced to swerve to avoid Conway, and pulled over to see if he was alright. Conway’s girlfriend and roommates told the driver that he did not know what he was doing and kept making statements about wanting to die.

Conway then laid down in the road as the driver tried to direct traffic around him. Conway then began to act aggressively toward the driver, who was a security guard and had a canister of pepper spray. After warning him to calm down several times, Conway continued to charge at the driver, who used the pepper spray.
