Boulder County is on track to have one of the largest percentage increases in foreclosures this year among a dozen Colorado counties surveyed by the state’s Division of Housing.
And although there’s no clear explanation for the surge as the national economic picture improves, observers said the effects of the recession may have been delayed.
According to the state study, released this week, the number of foreclosure filings in Boulder County is up 39 percent from January through November over the same period last year.
Among the 12 metropolitan counties included in the report, Boulder ranks second in the percentage of foreclosure increases behind Mesa County, which saw a 39 percent increase during the same time.
