Pac-12: Utah has to go with its backup quarterback Saturday against No. 22 Arizona State as the Utes continue their inaugural Pac-12 season. Junior college transfer Jon Hays played last week against Washington after Utah starter Jordan Wynn, right, injured his left shoulder in the second quarter. Hays responded by completing 10-of-16 passes for 156 yards and one touchdown, a 63-yard pass to DeVonte Christopher. The Sun Devils’ defense has forced nine turnovers in the past two games.
Mountain West: Air Force continues its streak of national TV games when it goes to Notre Dame on Saturday, with NBC (KUSA-9) broadcasting. After hanging on to beat Navy in overtime last week, the Falcons have a chance to raise their profile again should they beat an Irish team that is starting to play better. Notre Dame has won the past three games after losing the first two.
