A Jefferson County woman who died as she tried to get into a car, driven by her husband, as it backed out of a driveway died of natural causes, authorities said.

Shirley Gallegos, 77, died Tuesday, a day after emergency responders were called to her home in the 9700 block of West Peakview Drive, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The state patrol said today in a media release that “Gallegos’s injuries were not consistent with being struck by the car.”

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has ruled that Gallegos died of a medical condition.

“The incident is no longer being investigated as a motor-vehicle crash,” the state patrol said.
