After Washington Court House High School’s 26-0 rout of McLain High last Friday, 27 members of the losing team found themselves in an Ohio hospital — not because they were beaten to a pulp during the game. Instead, they were the victims of poor sportsmanship immediately after it. The McLain players had to be administered tetanus shots after one player, who had been ruled ineligible and did not play in the game, placed a spike in his glove that pricked them during the postgame handshake. What a sport! Not even in “The Longest Yard” did either team resort to such vile tactics after the game. Denver Post wire services
