BOULDER — A man was pulled from the Kids’ Fishing Pond and possibly saved from drowning Friday afternoon after two boys fishing nearby spotted him and ran for help.

The man, who appeared to be in his mid-50s, was unconscious when he was pulled from one of the ponds behind the Boulder County Justice Center at about 12:50 p.m. and transported to Boulder Community Hospital.

Kim Kobel, a spokeswoman for the Boulder Police Department, said two brothers visiting from out of town were fishing at the ponds when they saw a man struggling in the water. They saw him stop moving, and they ran toward the bike path to find help.

The two boys, around 10 or 11 years old, told police that the first two people they asked for help did not believe them and refused to investigate. The boys were then able to find a woman who pulled the man out of the water. Kobel said the water can be up to 7 feet deep.

Boulder police said the victim was not breathing, and a group of people walking near the creek performed CPR.
