Today. “Funniest,” “Best Pet-Owner Combination” and “Most Original” are some of the contest categories in today’s 13th annual Fright Fest Pet Parade from noon to 2 p.m. at Elitch Gardens. Want to enter a pet in the parade? First, visit . Parade participants enter the park for free; pet registration is $25 and includes a complimentary ticket into the park for another day this month. Proceeds benefit the Dumb Friends League.

School daze

Today. Skinner Middle School in north Denver hosts its second annual Fall Festival and Community Fair. This event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. features food, games, prizes, a pig roast, a pumpkin patch, a jumpy castle for the kids, supervised swimming in the school’s indoor pool and a “Scorpion Chili Challenge.” Admission is free; all other proceeds benefit student field trips, athletics and activities.
