DELTA, Colo.—Police in Montrose and Delta are investigating two attempts to abduct young children over the past week.
The latest attempt occurred Wednesday, when Montrose police say a man in a truck attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl. The girl ran to a nearby school to report the incident.
Delta police are crediting a teacher for foiling an attempted abduction on Tuesday when she grabbed the attention of a man who offered a 12-year-old-girl a ride.
Police say students at Delta Middle School had just returned from a sporting event Tuesday night and were waiting to be picked up by their families when a man in a truck asked the girl to get into his vehicle. The man drove away when he saw the teacher.
