A passenger was killed this morning after a car plunged into South Boulder Creek in Gilpin County and several people were injured in an accident involving a tour bus on Interstate-25.
Snow and slick roads triggered accidents this morning from Vail Pass to Castle Pines, said Trooper Nate Reid, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
“The roads are icy,” Reid said.
A man was killed following a one-car accident on Rollins Pass Road near East Portal Road that happened at 8:42 a.m., Reid said.
The victim was pronounced dead in an ambulance at the scene, he said. The name of the victim has not been released.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to a Boulder hospital with minor injuries, Reid said.
At Castle Pines, an Americanos USA tour bus crashed into a Rav4 Toyota injuring three people on the bus and two people in the SUV, Reid said. No one was seriously injured, he said.
The tour bus had 45 passengers aboard.
There were several other wrecks within a few miles of eachother on I-25 in Douglas County, Reid said.
Traffic was being diverted off of I-25 onto a frontage road. The interstate reopened about 11 a.m.
A rollover crash with minor injuries was also reported on Vail Pass this morning, Reid said. Vail Pass remains open.
