DENVER—Denver police have arrested a suspect after an accident that killed one person and injured another.
Police say 28-year-old Johnny Lee Hockaday is being held for investigation of vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and other traffic charges.
Officers say a preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle heading west on 13th Avenue late Monday failed to stop for a red light and broadsided a second vehicle heading south on Washington Street. The second vehicle then struck a concrete barrier, rolled on its roof and struck a business. The driver of the second vehicle died at the scene.
Police say a passenger in Hockaday’s vehicle was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police say Hockaday walked away from the scene but was arrested nearby.
