Volunteer for Golden Cliffs

The Colorado Mountain Club is hosting volunteer trail work and clean-up at the popular Golden Cliffs on Saturday. The national adopt-a-crag program, held in dozens of locations every year, mixes stewardship education with some restoration and trail work at heavily impacted climbing spots around the country. Saturday’s free event at Golden Cliffs above Golden will offer trail work, stewardship projects such as painting over trailhead graffiti and pulling weeds and education stations for kids and families that focus on erosion, invasive plants and Leave No Trace ethics.

Five-day barefoot clinic

Lee Saxby, the world’s foremost barefoot runner and a 20-year advocate of the shoeless running, is hosting a five-day coaching clinic at Denver’s Pura Vida Fitness and Spa at the end of the month.

Saxby’s Oct. 26-30 Vivobarefoot Coaching Program, which costs $3,000, focuses on technique and the biomechanics of barefoot running, which Saxby has long heralded as the best way to increase performance and reduce risk of injury. Attendees who complete the course and pass theoretical and practical exams will be certified instructors in barefoot running.
