An elementary school student was hit by a car this morning in Colorado Springs.

The incident happened at about 7:50 a.m. at the intersection of Fountain and Murray boulevards, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.

Police said a 6th grade student was crossing Fountain Boulevard against the light when an eastbound vehicle struck the student.

The student was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not life threatening, police said. Further details on the injuries were not available.

The driver will not face any traffic charges.
