WESTMINSTER, Colo.—Sometimes Lady Luck just isn’t on your side.
The Colorado Division of Gaming has decided that a Westminster couple who thought they had won more than $31,000 playing penny slots at a Black Hawk casino only deserve to be refunded on the 80 cents they put into the machine.
Chuck and Tisha Barry were playing the Cash Spin game at the Lady Luck casino this summer when Chuck Barry says he got three bars with sevens and then landed on the “Super Jackpot.” He says a red light began flashing before the machine went dark.
KCNC-TV ( ) reports the state determined the machine locked up because of a problem with the touch screen and did not complete its cycle. Therefore, the prize money announcement was invalid. The Barrys have hired an attorney.
