Boulder County’s 150th anniversary sculpture competition has come down to a tie, for the time being, between an airborne hawk and a Monarch butterfly perched on a railroad spike.
Commissioner Will Toor said Tuesday that he favors the sculpture of the metal butterfly atop the bronze spike to install on the Boulder County Courthouse plaza next to Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall.
Commissioner Ben Pearlman said, “I would probably lean towards the hawk.”
Commissioner Cindy Domenico won’t break the tie by siding with either Toor or Pearlman; she recused herself from the decision because her sister, Lafayette artist Joellen Domenico, submitted the hawk design.
