GREELEY, Colo.—A fire in a hay barn just east of Windsor has destroyed about 100 tons of hay and the equipment stored in a tool shed connected to the barn.
Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue fire marshal Sandra Friedrichsen says the cause of the fire Wednesday morning is under investigation.
Gina Henry and her husband, Darin Henry, sell hay from the barn and they also own Mountain Shadow Carriages. The Greeley Tribune reports () the couple’s custom-made, three-story tall super wagon was completely destroyed by the fire along with a tractor and some tools. An office next to the barn and tool shed sustained smoke damage.
Darin Henry says hay goes for $270 per ton, meaning the fire destroyed about $27,000 worth of hay.
