STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Parks and Wildlife commissioners will be working on final recommendations this week for the merger of the two agencies.
The commission will begin meeting on Thursday in Steamboat Springs, followed by a workshop Friday to get recommendations from work groups that have been developing alternatives to implement the merger between Colorado State Parks and the Division of Wildlife into one agency.
Gov. John Hickenlooper suggested the merger with hopes of saving the state $3 million to $4 million a year. The Parks and Wildlife Board will set policies for the new Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife.
