DENVER—The president of Cotter Corp. says the company will comply with state orders to remove contaminated water from a former uranium mine west of Denver.
Cotter president Amory Quinn tells the Denver Post ( ) the company will follow a court order to pump out and treat uranium-tainted water at its defunct Schwartzwalder Mine in Jefferson County. The mine is leaking uranium into a creek that serves a drinking-water reservoir.
Quinn says a creek-diversion pipe around the mine should be done by Jan. 31, but the company did not commit to a timetable to finish the cleanup.
