GOTHENBURG, Neb.—Authorities say a Colorado woman who was beaten in Nebraska by her boyfriend who then committed suicide has died of her injuries.
The Kearney Hub () says Michelle Stella, of Castle Rock, had emergency surgery for a brain aneurism on Oct. 7 in Colorado. She died on Monday. An autopsy shows she died as a result of the injuries from the assault.
Police say Stella was injured Sept. 17 when she was assaulted by Jason Melledy, of Peyton, Colo., near Gothenburg. Stella, her 8-year-old son, and Melledy traveled to Gothenburg for a wedding.
Police say Melledy stopped the car, pulled Stella out and beat her in the face and head. Her son flagged down a police officer. Melledy drove off, crashed the car and then killed himself.
