COLORADO SPRINGS — Police say a masked man walked into a Walgreens and claimed to have a gun before escaping with prescription painkillers, The Gazette reported.

The man, dressed in a black hoodie and dark pants, walked into the store at North Nevada Avenue and East Filmore Street just after 9:30 p.m. Friday and demanded Oxycontin.

Oxycontin is a synthetic opium derivative that is used for treatment of severe pain. It has become a popular and addictive recreational drug.

The robber ran from the store after he got the drugs and wasn’t spotted again.
