AURORA — Two Aurora firefighters were taken to hospitals Sunday after sustaining injuries while battling a fire at the Winridge Apartments.
The Aurora Fire Department responded to the fire at 2095 S. Paris Way at 8:33 a.m. and discovered flames and smoke billowing from a third-floor corner unit.
The structure was evacuated. While attempting to control the fire, two firefighters were hit by ceiling debris that fell.
Capt. Allen Robnett of the Aurora Fire Department said, “The firefighters were able to exit the unit under their own power and were transported to an area hospital. We are not releasing any information on their condition at this point.”
