A 65-year-old hunter missing in Garfield County since early Saturday was found alive this afternoon, but no other details about his condition and ordeal have been released.

The man, who was identified only as a Garfield County resident, was found by search-and-rescue crews.

According to the Garfield County Sheriff’s office, the man left two companions behind in camp south of Clark Ridge about 5 a.m. Saturday to hunt alone in the dense forest and rugged canyons between Meadow Lake and Triangle Park, about 26 miles north of New Castle, the Sheriff’s Department said.

The area has logged overnight temperatures in the 20s and snow since the man was last seen, according to the National Weather Service.

The search included ground crews from numerous agencies from several counties, as well as a helicopter from the Colorado Army National Guard.

The search in Garfield County continued today for a man who was thrown from a fishing boat into the Colorado River in Rifle Friday afternoon.

Neither he nor two companions who made it safely to the river bank, have been identified.

The man has not been seen since his fishing boat hit a bridge piling. The sheriff’s department has used divers, ground crews and dogs to search for him.
