For Carol, Scott and Kirk Byers, running the Millsite Inn tavern just north of this mountain town is not just a vocation — it’s a way of life.

For more than two decades, they haven’t just served customers — they’ve made friends.

But the time has come for brothers Scott and Kirk — who bought the restaurant and bar in 1985 — and Scott’s wife, Carol, to pass it on to someone new.

They put the Millsite Inn on the sales block last month, listing the rustic restaurant and neighboring 1,100-square-foot house for $650,000.
