Supporters turned out Tuesday to urge the Longmont City Council to back the master plan for Vance Brand Municipal Airport.
“I’d like to see the airport have the equal quality of attention that the rest of the city seems to have,” said flight instructor Larry Duane.
“The airport’s not asking for a new tax, it’s not asking to impose costs on our neighbors,” said Diann Rennicke, owner of the Flight Deck Grill. “Yet it’s hard to get past the fact that we always seem to get left behind.”
The council was reviewing chapter four of the plan Tuesday, which details recommended and required improvements to the airport. One of the most debated of those improvements in the past has been a possible extension of the runway from its present 4,800 feet to accommodate more category B2 aircraft.
