DENVER—Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has disbanded the Office of Homeland Security and transferred the programs to the Department of Public Safety.

Hickenlooper signed an executive order making the transfers after the Denver Post ( ) reported that the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security did not keep a complete computer database of how money has been spent.

Public Safety director James Davis said Wednesday the reorganization will increase accountability. Under the executive order, Davis will oversee the programs under a new Division of Homeland Security.

The program has distributed about $350 million in federal money to Colorado governments since the terrorist attacks a decade ago.
