Six people from Colorado Springs were found guilty Thursday of hiring 42 staffing companies from across Colorado to test software for law enforcement, then sticking the companies, collectively, for more than $5.1 million in unpaid bills.

David A. Banks, Demetrius K. Harper, Gary L. Walker, Clinton A. Stewart, David A. Zirpolo and Kendrick Barnes were ordered into custody pending their February sentencing. They each face up to 20 years in federal prison, plus financial penalties, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Denver.
