DENVER—Authorities say they arrested one person during a protest against Denver police alleging brutality in the death of a man at the zoo.
Police say one person was arrested on suspicion of defacing public property during the march Saturday from the Denver zoo to downtown. Police say the marchers were putting stickers on public property and that led to the arrest.
The Denver Post reports ( ) that the group was protesting a decision not to prosecute officers for the July death of 29-year-old Alonzo Ashley. He died after police used a stun gun to restrain him. Prosecutors say police were justified in their actions.
The group was also protesting the death of 56-year-old Marvin Booker. He died after a struggle with Denver Sheriff’s deputies at a jail intake unit last year.
