A Highlands Ranch man with a gunshot wound was taken to a local hospital Sunday afternoon.

About 3:15 p.m. the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 9500 block of Parramatta on a report of a shooting, said Sgt. Ron Hanavan, a sheriff’s spokesman.

When deputies arrived at the scene they found a man who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition, Hanavan said.

The wound was not self-inflicted, Hanavan said, and investigators have not yet arrested a suspect in the case.

Hanavan did not release who reported the shooting.

The sheriff’s office does not believe the general public in the area was threatened by the incident, Hanavan said.

This story will be updated as more details are released.
