GOLDEN, Colo.—A teen who got stuck on a ledge in a mineshaft near Golden has been rescued.
KUSA-TV in Denver reports the boy and a friend were hiking in the mineshaft Monday evening when some ground gave way and some rocks were displaced. The friend got out, but the teen was stuck on the ledge. Jefferson County sheriff’s officials say the teen wasn’t hurt but couldn’t get out on his own.
A mine rescue team helped reach the trapped teen after about two hours.
Sheriff’s officials say they will review whether trespassing charges are warranted and investigate ways to prevent others from entering the mineshaft in the future.
