GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A California man sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in a carjacking says he didn’t know there was more than $320,000 in cash stashed in the car.
German Martinez-Rivera of Fontana, Calif., was arrested following a high-speed chase in February. Martinez-Rivera pleaded guilty in August to vehicular looting, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and theft of property exceeding $20,000.
According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel ( ), authorities believe the cash was drug money.
The alleged victims, Jacqueline Aranda and Maria Aranda, told police they also knew nothing about the money inside their car.
