According to recruiting sites, the University of Colorado men’s basketball team appears to be battling California for Tyrone Wallace Jr., a 6-foot-4 point guard from Bakersfield, Calif., who is ranked No. 78 nationally by . Wallace averaged 22 points for Bakersfield High as a junior.
If Wallace signs with the Buffs, he would join two other top-100 prospects who have committed to Colorado: No. 65 Josh Scott, a 6-9 forward-center at Lewis-Palmer HS near Colorado Springs, and No. 83 Xavier Johnson, a 6-6 forward at Mater Dei HS in Santa Ana, Calif. Tom Kensler, The Denver Post
DU’s Shore honored.
University of Denver junior hockey player Drew Shore, who had five points and a plus-6 rating in last weekend’s two-game sweep of Minnesota State, was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association offensive player of the week.
Shore had the game-winning, power-play goal in last Friday’s 4-2 victory over the Mavericks and added a career-high four assists in Saturday’s 10-2 romp.

Fort Lewis still ranked No. 3.
After two victories last weekend, the Fort Lewis men’s soccer team (16-1-0) remained at No. 3 in the NCAA Division II coaches poll, released Tuesday. Metro State (18th) and Regis (22nd) also were ranked.
• The Fort Lewis women’s soccer team (13-1-3) jumped six spots to No. 8 in the coaches poll. Metro State re-entered the poll at No. 25.
Westmoreland wins title.
Air Force sophomore Kyle Westmoreland shot an 11-over-par 227 on the Trump National Golf Club course in Bedminster, N.J., to win the Service Academy Golf Classic title.
The Falcons won their 15th consecutive team title in the tournament, 12 shots better than Navy and 25 ahead of Army.
