Has the first viral video of the campaign season come from the Herman Cain camp? Emerging on YouTube a few days ago, the video features Mark Block, the chief of staff of Cain’s presidential campaign, extolling the virtues of his candidate while standing outside an office building, smoking.
With its low production values, the juxtaposition of Block’s flat delivery with the video’s pulsing house music and, finally, Block’s taking a long drag on his cigarette, several people theorized that it must be a hoax.
For those who doubted its authenticity, Block has weighed in with an e-mail to CBS News senior political writer Caroline Horn: “Only comment is — I smoke. It’s a choice. It’s Block being Block.”
